Brookes & Austin Holloway

Living with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus since she was eighteen years old, Brookes Holloway knows all too well about the struggles with normal activities most people take for granted. Diagnosed at the end of her senior year of high school, Brookes put a quote in her high school annual that she had no idea would represent her future in such a profound way. The quote from Jeremiah 29:11 reads, “ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
At the beginning of her senior year when she chose that quote she was a healthy and vibrant seventeen year old with a bright future ahead of her. Today, the quote stands for so much more and that is why Brookes reached out to the Arthritis Foundation to help raise funds to find a cure for the millions suffering.
The daily fatigue, excruciating pain, and inflammation have impeded her ability to live like a college age student. While she has been traumatized by hospitalizations she finds hope working with the Arthritis Foundation as the sponsorship chair of the 2009 Arthritis Walk.
Brookes and her best friend Bentley, a four year old yorkie-poo along with their team are looking forward to an upbeat and fun filled walk in Midland, Texas.
